Philips Lighting has accelerated its sustainability initiatives in India with the launch of its CFL and tube light safe disposal program. An extension of the company´s global sustainability program ´Brighter Lives, Better World´, this program aims to educate consumers in India about responsible waste management through safe disposal of lighting products that contain mercury.

Halonix Technologies, has become the first lighting brand in the country to get Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for its spectacular range of LED street lights. The esteemed certification to Halonix was awarded by BIS after rigorous assessment of the performance, quality, safety and reliability of its LED street lights.

For FY2016 ended September 30, 2016, Siemens Ltd. registered 19.4 per cent higher new orders at Rs.12,064.02 crore compared to Rs.10,107.49 crore in FY2015.

ReNew Power has placed a 50 MW turnkey project order to Gamesa. The order will be commissioned by March 2017. As per terms of the contract, Gamesa will supply 25 units of G114 - 2.0 MW T106 turbines which will be set up at Amba, Madhya Pradesh.

Inox Wind Ltd has bagged a 50 MW wind power project from SJVN Limited to be deployed in Gujarat. The project is scheduled to be commissioned by November 2017 and will be executed on turnkey basis. As part of the order, Inox Wind will supply and install 25 units of its advanced 2 MW DFIG 113 rotor dia wind turbine generators for SJVN Limited.

Solar EPC company, Sterling and Wilson, has signed an agreement to construct a 170 MW PV facility, with the consortium led by ACWA Power in the Kingdom of Morocco. The NOOR PV I Program will consist of three projects: NOOR Ouarzazate IV, with a capacity of around 70 MW, NOOR Laayoune, 80 MW and NOOR Boujdour, 20 MW.

The Sacramento Kings have announced the completion of their 700 kW rooftop array on top of their Golden 1 Center home arena. The venue will be the first indoor sports arena to have its entire energy supply sourced from solar, with a 700 kW rooftop array, combined with energy supplied from the Rancho Seco solar farm 40 miles away, powering the stadium which can house nearly 20,000 fans.

Solar module manufacturer Vikram Solar has entered into a strategic partnership with Finnwind, making the system integrator, manufacturer and installer of renewable energy systems the exclusive supplier of Vikram Solar modules for the Finnish market.

The Nigerian Northern States Governors´ Forum has signed an MoU with GE for the construction of five solar power plants. Five states including Borno, Kebbi, Nassarawa, Niger and Taraba will soon benefit from the solar power plants, with 100 MW capacity each.
