SCC India  Preparing for Green Debt Securities
According to India's Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (Towards Climate Justice) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, India is determined to scale-up its renewable energy capacity more than five times with the Green Generation for Clean & Energy Secure India strategy by increasing it from 30 gigawatts (GW) in 2016-2017 to 175 GW by 2021-2022.

Transition from FiT to competitive bidding is a progressive change
The wind energy sector has progressed significantly over the past decade. The installed capacity of the country has doubled in the last five years and reached a whopping 32,508 MW which is almost ~56 per cent of our installed renewable energy base.

Change in Generation Landscape
The planned renewable capacity target of 175 GW by 2022 to enable our COP21 commitment and 'Power for All' program poses significant challenges of balancing variability and intermittency in the grid.

Transformative Steps
Converting clean energy from resources efficiently into a commercially usable power is where power semiconductor devices play a crucial role and they are almost indispensable.
