Sanjeev Ranjan is the Managing Director (MD) of International Copper Association India (ICAI) since April 2011. In addition, he is also fulfilling the role of Sub-Regional Director of West Asia. ICAI is part of the worldwide network of copper promotion centres of the International Copper Association (ICA).
Ranjan is an alumnus of IIT, Roorkee, from where he graduated in 1986 as Mechanical Engineer with specialization in Automobiles and Production Engineering. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Marketing & Systems) from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
Prior to joining ICAI, Ranjan served as Associate Vice President/Corporate Strategy & Planning of GMR Group with responsibilities that included building the corporate strategy, portfolio analysis of the existing assets & projects and growing the organization. He worked for a large part of his career with Tata´s which included roles as Global Mining and Metals Practice Head with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and under various capacities with Tata Steel. He has traveled globally for visits and best practices training to various steel plants like US Steel (Pittsburg), Corus Steel (Netherlands & UK) and Thyssen Krupp (Germany) and other manufacturing facilities at South Africa, Thailand and China.
