Coal India has missed both its production and sales target by about 20 million tonnes each in the just-ended fiscal year, with the state-run company blaming environmental issues to weather and transportation problems for the shortfalls. The coal miner's output in the fiscal year ended March 31 rose 2.3 per cent to 462 million tonnes, missing its aim of 482 million tonnes. Supplies expanded a marginal 1.4 per cent to 471.5 million tonnes while the projection was 492 million tonnes.
