To generate electricity through renewable energy sources, Bahrain may soon build renewable energy stations in its southern region. The move follows a study conducted by Masdar which explored the possibility of setting up such stations on the Hawar Islands.
Media reports said that personal representative and Supreme Council for Environment President Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa met, at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, UAE assistant foreign minister, special envoy for energy and climate change and Masdar company Chief Executive Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber and discussed results of the study to set up renewable power stations in southern Bahrain.
Shaikh Abdulla welcomed the visit of a Masdar delegation to Bahrain, pledging to provide all facilities for the second phase of the project. The team will also conduct a feasibility study on setting up at least two renewable energy stations. An agreement will be signed with the Kingdom to start establishing the clean power generating stations.
